The Journal of Soil Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering proudly announces that Professor Dimitri E. Beskos, Co-Editor-in-Chief of this journal, has been elected as a Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), the highest honor of China for foreign engineers, for his distinguished contribution to structural mechanics and the promotion of China-Greece exchanges and cooperation, one of only 20 foreign members elected this year.

 

Professor Beskos is a Chair Professor in the Department of Disaster Mitigation for Structures, College of Civil Engineering, Tongji University, China and an Emeritus Professor of Civil Engineering, University of Patras, Greece.

His research focuses on Computational Mechanics, Earthquake Engineering and Steel Structures.

He is a Member of Academia Europaea, a Member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts and a Corresponding Member of the Academy of Athens.

He was elected as member of the European Academy of Engineering in 2012.
